Tongbei Quan, or Back-Through Boxing, is a Chinese martial art that is known by many different names according to where it is practiced; it is also known as Wuxing, Five-Monkey, and Six-Combinations. Despite the divergence in names, Tongbei Quan is based on a single theory and origin. This martial art features power that is generated from the back to pass through the shoulders and then reach the arms. In this way, heavy blows can be delivered at arms length to control the opponent. It is important to note that Tongbei Quan's movements are based on the behavior of birds and animals such as the eagle, crane, monkey, and cat.
