Tantui, or Spring Legs, is a style of martial arts created by Chinese Moslems during the 18th Century CE. Tantui is characterized by foot techniques combined with fist movements as support. Its techniques are simple but complete and are executed flawlessly by observing symmetrical proportions of the body through positioning of the feet. It is seen in a practitoner's movement which consists of wide steps while keeping the body in a crouched position.
The kicks in this style are low and hard in the first sets, but get higher and more acrobatic in the later sets. Tantui has the appearance of an external style, where obvious lunges, dropping, and twisting of the waist generate the power.
