Taiyando

Taiyando is a Brazilian martial art of self-defense, although the name Taiyando is Chinese and means "Way of the Sun." It was created by João Alberto Scherk in 1975 under the name Tai Yang Karate Do and on April 28, 1975, the first class took place in São Caetano do Sul, São Paulo, Brasil. It is a combination of Kung Fu, Judo, Hatha Yoga, Tai Chi Chuan, and Kyokushin and Goju Ryu Karate that elaborated a single and objective self-defense and physical conditioning method. This style of martial art is incorporated into the Brazilian Physical Education Curriculum that trains young people to have a healthy body.
