Silat is a martial art commonly found in several countries in Southeast Asia. It is said to have originated in Malaysia and diffused to neighboring countries such as Indonesia, Thailand, and The Philippines. Silat, as a word, is rarely used alone in its countries of origin. Normally it is used as an identifier of a combat system such as Penjak Silat, Bersilat, Kuntao Silat, etc.
