Shidokan or the Triathlon Martial Art is a Japanese martial art developed by Yoshiji Shoeno in 1981. It combines combative elements of Karate, Muay Thai, and grappling into a single system of fighting. Because of the incorporation of the said martial arts, Shidokan tournaments are beginning to resemble Mixed Martial Arts competitions. Its training includes the traditional waza (techniques) of Judo, Jujutsu, Muay Thai and the traditional kata of Karate. Holds, pull-downs, locks, throws, round kicks delivered with the shins, and elbow strikes are all part of this style.
