Sanhuang Paochui or Three-Emperor Cannon Boxing is a Chinese martial art that was developed by a Shaolin Monk named Pu Zhao during the 1600s. It is known for its rapid and powerful fist blows, which are likened to firing cannon balls. This style of martial art uses suppleness as its core and hardness as its applications. It also requires its practitioners to be consistent in both attack and defense, and follow the theory of yin and yang energies at all times. Its combat strategy consists of alternating attack and defense, advance and retreat.
The basic skills of Sanhuang Paochui include cross-hand fist blows and a rounded squatting stance. This art draws power from the movement of the arms imitating a bow discharging an arrow. Sanhuang Paochui is a very popular art in China and is respected because of its efficacy in combat.
