Punong Guro James Eddings, the founder of Vagabond Kali-Silat started his martial arts training with the art of Shaolin Longfist Kung Fu.He lived in a very poor and rough neighborhood and found this style of Kung Fu not immediately effective. He was lucky enough to find a school that taught Inosanto/LaCosta Kali and Jeet Kune Do. Later he also studied Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, Serrada Eskrima, Balintawak, and Modern Arnis (under the late Prof. Remy Presas). He also extensively studied several styles of kickboxing including Muay Thai, American Kickboxing, and Savate. He practices and teaches the arts of Judo and Traditional Japanese Jujutsu and currently also trains and teaches Brazilian Jiu-jitsu.He has spent his life practicing and researching the Martial Arts.He has taught civilians,law enforcement and military and believes in keeping alive the combative aspects of martial arts, the ancient skills that have stood the test of time and the evolving science of training. Along the way he has attained ranks in several styles of martial arts and combative systems including, among others:
Master Instructor-Sasamba Kali/Arnis
Sifu-Kun Tao (GM Willem Reeders lineage)
Full Instructor-Jeet Kune Do
8th degree Nihon Kempo
6th degree Sil lum Gung Fu
5th degree Judo
Punong Guro James Eddings is now recognized as an Honorary 10th Degree Black Belt of the Philippine Jendo Association
and is now inducted to the Great Hall of World Martial Arts Council of Elders(WMACE)under the WMACE USA Council.
