Peter Ralston is the founder of the martial art he calls Cheng Hsin. Born in the United States and raised in Asia, he earned black belts in Judo, Jujutsu and Karate, all by the age of 20. He has also studied Kempo, Aikido, Muay Thai, Western boxing, and several styles of Kung Fu.

He created Cheng Hsin, a mostly internal art, in 1975 and opened the first school to teach it in Oakland, California in 1977.
