It was at that point in my life that I began to see wholes in my martial arts games. I had no stand up grappling or ground fighting skills. Although I enjoyed much success in my ring fighting, I realized that I needed to work on those areas to fill the gaps. In my search to find an instructor that could help me attain my martial arts goals, I find Kenneth Melborne who remains my instructor today. He is the most dedicate and educated martial artist and instructor that I know. Also, I was lucky enough to establish a close friendship with him

In 1992, I started a small school in order to pass my knowledge on to my son and provide underprivileged children the opportunity to learn martial arts. Children who would otherwise not be able to attend such programs, because I teach my students at no cost, I expect complete discipline and dedication in my school. I have no tolerance for students that are not serious and have dropped students in the past. This provides other needy children interested in my school a chance to become a serious student.

When I earned my 3rd degree in Kempo-Jitsu, my instructor asked me to create a ground fighting kata. The ground fighting technique that I had created was a success that gave me the confidence to create two more. I currently hold the following belts and degrees:

  • Black Belt – 2nd Degree Tae Kwon Do
  • Black Belt – 1st Degree Judo
  • Black Belt – 3rd Degree Jujitsu
  • Black Belt – 6th Degree Kempo Jitsu

In addition, I assist / participate in seminars within the New England area. I have also appeared in books, 3 Black Belt magazines and many instructional videos. In addition, I have been teaching for 11 years and have been given the following belts in Kempo Jitsu:

  • Jared York - 2nd Dan Black Belt
  • Jesse Bariteau - 1st Dan Black Belt
  • Ryan Gardiner - Brown Belt
  • Dan Phelps - Green Belt

I am also on the board of directors of M.A.C.K.O. and have participated in many promotions in Kempo-Jitsu Pre 1900 Martial Art. I have Master Instructor certification in Kempo-Jitsu Pre 1900 Martial Art.
