The Marine Corps Martial Arts Program or MCMAP is a martial arts program designed for the United States Marine Corps. Unlike the LINE Combat System, this art combines existing hand-to-hand combat, weapons training, and team-building methods. The program, which began in 2001, trains Marines (and U.S. Navy personnel attached to Marine Units) in unarmed combat, edged weapons, weapons of opportunity, and rifle and bayonet techniques. It focuses on 3 disciplines--the Physical, the Mental, and Character--continually seeking self-improvement, not only for an individual, but for the whole group as well (the "Warrior Ethos").
