Lathi is the ancient internal meditative martial art of India, as well as the term referring to the weapon used in this martial art - the bamboo stick. In contrast with Silambam, the bamboo stick used in this art is 6-8 feet long and is equippd with a metal blunt. It is an elegant system of human body movement that dates back through a lineage of masters that goes back thousands of years. Lathi is the martial art of the Indian monasteries and thus, the keepers of its flame are spiritual masters as well.

Today, this martial art is a requirement in Indian Police training. This art is usually utilized for crowd control.
