Kyokushin or Kyokushinkai, which means "the society for the ultimate truth", is a Japanese martial art that is based on the fighting techniques of Karate. However, the main difference lies in the principle of kumite or "sparring" and kihon or "technique". They do not believe in mastery of kata alone; therefore, Kyokoshin requires its students to engage in full-contact sparring in order to master the art. Furthermore, they incorporate boxing and Muay Thai techniques in their kihon.
