The Karategi is the traditional uniform (gi) worn by a Karateka which is very similar to the Judogi in style because of their common origin. However, the Karategi is made from a much lighter material and has a loose fitting. The Karategi developed as a uniform made for more mobile stances and movements compared to the Judogi. Many Karateka tend to wear their obi (belt) much longer than Judokas and other martial artists. A Karategi usually weighs around 8 to 10 oz. depending on the preference of the user.
