San Budo, a freestyle martial art formed in 2007, is composed of mainly Tae Kwon Do, Kempo Jiu Jitsu, and Nihon Tetsuken-Ryu Karate with aspects of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Shaolin Kung Fu. Created by Bret Gordon, the art has been recognized by the World Black Belt Bureau (2007) and the International Association of Martial Arts Founders (2008). Given a Japanese name, San Budo is loosely translated to mean “Three Martial Ways,” giving credit to its three main components.
