Help:About Templates
From Karate, Kungfu, Wrestling, Mixed Fighting Information Source
Templates are markers that are usually seen at the beginning of an article. Articles that have templates usually have these kind of things on the page:
Therefore, we can say that the templates are markers that give us an idea of the current status of an article. However, templates are not limited to status markers, because there is another kind of template that gives information about the structure of the site - it is called a nav template. Since Wikimartialarts is still new, we encourage visitors to talk in the discussion page of this section and give ideas on how we could improve templates.

Putting a Template
Putting a template in an article is really easy, you just have to bear in mind the simple syntax:
{ { template name } }
and the template will appear. If the template appeared in red after you saved the article it means that it does not exist and is need of editing. But users are only allowed to create article related templates and nav templates, the creation of the status templates is solely limited to the administrators of this wiki - and granted that a body of wikimartialart editors agreed in creating one.
Article Related Templates
This kind of template is used in relation to an article. Lets say that you want to use a table over and over again in several articles and it would be a pain in the neck to create the same table over and over again. But because of a template, it would be a lot easier to put tables, graphs or whatever things that you like that is related to your article/articles.
Another kind of Article-Related Template is the infobox, they are quick information boxes usually found at the right side of the page. Here is a list of usable infoboxes available at Wikimartialarts.
- Film Infobox
{{Film Infobox
| name =
| image =
| director =
| producer =
| starring =
| distributor =
| release =
| runtime =
| country =
| language =
| preceded_by =
| followed_by =
| website =
}}
- Cartoon Infobox
{{Cartoon Infobox
| name =
| image =
| director =
| author =
| country =
| runtime =
| episodes =
| studio =
| original run =
}}
- Comics Infobox
{{Comics Infobox
| name =
| image =
| author/creator =
| publisher =
| country =
| serialized in =
| original run =
| number of volumes =
}}
- Videogame Infobox
{{Videogame Infobox

Nav Templates
Nav templates simply indicates the links related to the page, a colletion of sub-topics in a bigger body of knowledge, or tells the user where he/she is right now. here is an example of a Nav Template:
Status Templates
These are the most common type of templates found in almost all wiki projects. As we said, it is a marker that indicates the status of the article. Here in Wikimartialarts, the number of usable templates that tells a status is still limited, thus we are asking your help to contribute and discuss things that regard the creation of new status templates. Dont be afraid to use our forums page and discussion page to voice out your opinions or suggestions.
But remember, only administrators that have been granted powers by editors (through suggestions and comments) have the right to create status templates.

Removing Templates
Removing a template is very simple, just delete the template in the edit page and save the article. However, there are guidelines tha must be observed before removing a template:
- Anyone has the right to remove status templates, however, he/she must be sure that the article is complete and requires no major revision.
- In other cases, if a body of contrbutors and editors feel that the article at hand is finished and the comments in the discussion page agree then anyone can remove the status template.
- Regarding the removal of Article Related Templates and Nav Templates, not anyone can remove it without the permission of the creator of the page or the consensus of the people discussing the article.
If anyone has suggestions please feel free to comment on the discussion page.
