Fencing is a general term used to represent the scinece of armed combat. It deals with the basic manipulation of blades by the use of hands such as cutting, slashing, stabbing, etc.. Its weapons or equipment include a wide array of bladed cutting objects such as sword, daggers to blunt weapons such as sticks and clubs.
In the contemporary period, fencing is commonly reffered to the European style of swordsmanship, and to the Olympic sport that was derived out of it.
