Battojutsu is a Japanese martial art of swordsmanship that is closely related to Iajutsu and Kenjutsu. However, unlike Kenjutsu, Battojutsu emphasizes speed and drawing skills over sword dueling skills. This art's training focuses on quickly and correctly drawing the sword, striking, and returning the sword to its saya (sheath).

In contrast with another drawing art, Iaido, Battojutsu is mainly a defensive martial art made up of counter-attacks, while the former only uses the sword draw to start off a kata with an attack.
