STYLES OF MARTIAL ARTS

Martial arts have grown its diversity in form and discipline according to the instructor, environment, and specialty. Even a single branch of martial art has different styles; technique specialization based on the interpretation o its single philosophy; and attitudes toward enemies/foe. However, despite of its wide variety, generally all martial arts have one goal: defeating a person or defending oneself from a threat of danger. Jendo is non-classical Fighting Arts that utilizes empty hands and Filipino traditional martial arts weaponries like sticks and bladed weapons as a means of self-defense. It is a fast-rising Filipino non-classical style of self-defense originated in Mandaluyong City, that has been existing in the Philippines for almost four decades. This art is a modern day Filipino martial art partly based on the ancient oriental system of discipline.

Jendo is one of the very few authentic Filipino martial arts, able to pass the screening of the Philippine Sports Commission and of the different major national organizations of martial arts from various Filipino and foreign styles protected by the laws Philippine Government, recognized and approved under Securities and Exchange Commision Regulation No. ANO96-00588.


Arnis

Modern Arnis Mano-Mano Filipino Martial Arts is duly recognized and registered by the Philippine Government under by the Security Exchange Commission and the Department of Trade and Industry with Registry Number 00156129. The MAMFMA was first registered July 21, 1995 and the logo name of Modern Arnis Mano-Mano Filipino Martial Arts was copyrighted at the National Library, Manila on October 6, 1995 with Copyright registry no. O 95-1006 by Punong Lakan Garitony C. Nicolas which he called Arnis Nicolas System (ARNIS). The Arnis Nicolas System promotes the classical, traditional and modern approach of teaching the principles and philosophy of the art of stick fighting - Arnis.
